MBTA Ferries

Ride the MBTA Ferries between Downtown Boston and Charlestown, East Boston, Logan Airport, Lynn, Hingham, Hull, Winthrop, or Quincy.

MBTA Harbor Loop (NEW)

With a June 29, 2026 launch, the MBTA’s new Harbor Loop route travels between Lovejoy Wharf (North Station), Central Wharf (Aquarium), Commonwealth Pier (Seaport), and Logan Airport.

MCCA Seaport Ferries

Ride the Seaport Ferry between Lovejoy Wharf (North Station), Fan Pier, and Pier 10 or between Fan Pier and Lewis Mall (East Boston).

Boston Harbor Islands

Take the Boston Harbor Islands Ferry to Spectacle, Georges, Peddocks, or Thompson Islands.

Public-Private Water Shuttles

Encore Boston Harbor Water Shuttle: A luxurious free ride between Long Wharf or Lovejoy Wharf and Encore Boston Harbor.

ICA Watershed Shuttle: ICA Water Shuttle service between the Watershed in East Boston and the ICA in the Seaport is included with the purchase of a general admission ticket to the ICA. Advance reservations are recommended.

Long-Distance Ferry Service

Boston Harbor City Cruises operates two seasonal long-distance ferries from Boston to Salem and from Boston to Provincetown via Boston’s Provincetown/Cape Cod Fast Ferry.

Bay State Cruise Company operates the seasonal Provincetown Fast Ferry out of the Seaport.

Boston Water Taxi: On-demand service from 25 locations along the Harbor.

Red Top Boats: On-demand service from 18 locations along the Harbor.

  • The MBTA’s new Harbor Loop route travels between Lovejoy Wharf (North Station), Central Wharf (Aquarium), Commonwealth Pier (Seaport), and Logan Airport. This service runs Monday through Friday from roughly 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Fare is $2.40.

Seaport Ferries

  • Ride the Seaport Ferry between Fan Pier and Lewis Mall Wharf. Tickets cost $5.00 one-way.

  • Ride the Seaport Ferry between Fan Pier, Pier 10, and Lovejoy Wharf. Tickets cost $5.00 one-way.

Long-Distance Ferries

Harbor Islands

  • From Memorial Day to Labor Day, catch a ferry to Georges Island from Long Wharf. Tickets this year cost $24.95 roundtrip.

  • From Memorial Day to Labor Day, catch a ferry to Peddocks Island from the Hingham Shipyard. Tickets this year cost $24.95 roundtrip.

  • Boston Harbor City Cruises provides year-round service to Spectacle Island out of Long-Wharf. Tickets this year cost $24.95 roundtrip.

  • The Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound School runs youth group learning trips to Thompson Island, but you can visit the island in the summertime yourself with a $20 unescorted public access ferry ticket (roundtrip).

Water Shuttles

  • A water taxi connects ReelHouse (Fan Pier/Seaport), ReelHouse (East Boston - New St.), Tall Ship (East Boston - Lewis Mall), and Pier 6 (Charlestown Marina) restaurants, weather-permitting. Find your stop. $7 per ride.

  • A luxurious free ride between Long Wharf and Encore Boston Harbor.

  • ICA Water Shuttle service between the Watershed in East Boston and the ICA in the Seaport is included with the purchase of a general admission ticket to the ICA. Advance reservations are recommended.
